OK yesterday I went to Petsmart & got a toothbrush & doggie toothpaste to see if brushing would help little miss stinky breath & what did I discover when I finally got inside of her mouth?!....she has periodontal disease (I work for a dentist)! So now I know it's her dental problem causing her stinky breath & when I take her to the vet she will need a dental done. The poor little thing really was NOT taken care of by her previous owner at all. The brushing makes her gums bleed & I think I read about some type of gel that you just rub on their gums to help with this problem does anyone know the name of it? I feel bad making her gums bleed even though in humans I know the only way to help perio disease is to keep brushing & flossing to strengthen the gums. Also how often do you brush your dogs teeth? If I do it every day will the doggie toothpaste make her sick? Thanks in advance to anyone that answers
