That is what Teagon has for the congenital defect. This is what BB has. BB has had surgery for it but we knew nothing about him having a defect in his neck. If you ever want to read his story please let me know I will copy and paste it and email it to you. I also have many files with information on AAI.
I was told Babybear would never walk after his surgery last year to remove one of the pins in his neck. And three days ago he walked for the first time in almost 3 years so miracles do happen and YT prayers will help Teagon pull through this. After surgery and his healing time he will need therapy. Water and Physical. Acupuncture will help also.
As for pain if the congenital defect is bothering him yes he will have pain. That is where the steroids come in. He will need to stay on these until his surgery. They will help reduce the swelling in the spinal cored that can cause the pain from the AAI.
I want you to know that this story has touched my heart in ways you will never know. All AAI(altanoaxial Instibility pups) touch my heart. I am here for you ladies. Anything you need. I so feel for Teagon. I know how BB was and my heart just goes out for this little guy. If you need me for anything you can email me at: Mybabe4me@aol.com I check my emails all the time. So please let me know if there is anything you need. I am sending many many prayers for all involved because this can be a very long journey. One I continue to lead every day.
Question about Teagons bowels and urine. Now where BB could not move away from his urine he would wet himself also. This is why he has worn a diaper for almost three years he knew when he went, because he would tell me by barking. He was on a wee wee pad 24/7 and I used a diaper like a belly band so when he pooped we would only get it on the wee wee pad and it would not stick to his hiney. IS the reason Teagon is going to the bathroom all over himself because he can't move from it? Or is he incontinent?
Again my prayers are with you and I am now lighting a candle for Baby Teagon.
Thank you for sharing your story with us about BB. I watched the video and cried when he walked for the first time. There are miracles that do happen and that is what we are all hoping for. I would love to hear the entire story of what happened with BB and how you got him to today and walking!

As for Teagan this is what I do know......Although he does have AAI that is not the cause of his paralyzes. He was stepped on and has a sever injury at C3 and C4 that was not treated immediately. The AAI I was told was something that although congenital was only secondary to his injury. They did not think it was the cause his inability to walk but now that he has the C3/C4 injury it has become a factor of his injury. Does that make sense???? Because it was NOW a factor of the injury was the reason that he needed the surgery to ever be able to walk and it should have been done immediately. Because it was not does immediately his condition continued to progress and worsen.

As for Teagan's bowels and urine this is what I was told my Marie: When the injury first happened and Teagan was able to walk and more he would get up and go to his peepee pad to go potty. By the time I got him it was very evident that not only could he not more AT ALL he was laying in his urine and poop. From what I saw he gave no indication that he has control over what he was doing. My vet also was not sure if he was able to control them or if it was just a reflex of then become full and then he was eliminating. He came to me without a diaper and I was told he was able to use a pee pad to go but that is not something that he was ever capable of while he was with me for almost a week.

He never showed any indication of pain at the AAI but I did notice that he had pain on his left side at the C3/C4 injury. He also seemed to be stronger of the right side of his body compared to the left. I was always veyr gentle while holding him but he did let out a whimper if held wrong on his left side were the spinal injury was located.

I am going to send you a PM with my email address so that you can send me all of BB story and information.

Also, I have seem the story of the little girl at Yorkies, Inc that wears the body cast. I've even watched her video and how she gets around. That is one very determined little sweetheart. We can only hope and pray that Teagan can also follow in both her and BB FOOTSTEPS.

Thank you so much for all of your kind works and your offer to help. It is people like yourself and all of the other people at YT that have help with little Teagan.
