I met a couple tonight that had a pair of Yorkies. A 3lb male and a 3.5lb female. While they were both adorable, I could tell when I was playing with them that they weren't very well taken care of. You could see every bone in their body and their ribs were so prominent that I almost didn't want to touch them in fear that I'd hurt them. Their hair was silky, but so very thin and dull from lack of nutrition. I asked the owner what kind of food they were on and they replied with "I don't know. Some stuff we get at Walmart." I just shook my head and boasted that I always had really good luck with Solid Gold and they should consider trying them on that.
Then halfway through the conversation I learned they were selling these babies as a breeding pair and asking $2000 for them.
I just wanted to come home and cry. SO not right.... just.... not right. They're waiting for the female to come into heat. If she does before they can find a buyer, they'll keep her.
