Tobie is my first Yorkie but from what I understand all puppies coats are fluffy and cottony. I don't think you'll know what coat she has until it starts to grow out. Tobie's hair is starting to feel much softer and tangles less as it gets longer. You shouldn't need to cut her hair until you want to... it will grow out silver (or that's how Tobie's is) and eventually the black will all be cut off when you get her groomed. The hair on the head can be cut or grown out for a top knot, just whatever you prefer.

I hope I got all of this right.. I have done so much reading about Yorkie grooming because I am new to their type of coats.
