We've traveled with Rowdy since he was 3 1/2 months old. The trip to FW should be a breeze. We just put a towel in the seat between my husband and I and put some toys down for him to play with but he would only play for about 5 minutes and then he was out like a light. He would sleep for 2-3 hrs at a time. When he needs to go potty, he wakes up and starts walking back and forth between my hubby and I. We would stop, take him out to potty and exercise and then he'd fall back asleep when we started up again. We took small plastic containers with lids for food and water, but he eats and drinks very little in the car. You will need a harness and leash to take him to potty when you stop and be aware of all the trash on the ground at rest stops and gas stations, especially cigarette butts and chewing tobacco. Those are very toxic. You have to watch them like a hawk when they are trying to find a place to potty as they sniff everything and Rowdy like to pick up things off the ground.

Enjoy your trip, they are usually very good travelers.
