What age did you get your pup at?

There seems to be a big thing on the main forum about 12 weeks, but I find round me that they all seem to be "ready" at 8 weeks, and anyone I know who got pups (non Yorkie) were around the 8 wk mark.

Is it an American thing or Yorkie thing?
