I have 1/3 acre for my back yard and it is landscaped with lots of bushes and flowerbeds and such. Puddin' is just too small to be let loose out there by herself. She goes out on her leash, she goes everywhere with us in her puppy bag, but she is never let out by herself.
She will have to get a lot bigger before I think it is safe...we have a long, narrow property that goes into the heart of the block, so we have six other properties whose back property lines are shared with my back garden wall. One of these houses contains the most incorrigible pair of teen aged boys...they jump over the wall and hide in my flowerbeds from their mother...they drink and smoke and leave the bottles and butts behind (my maid does the gardening every Wednesday and at least once a month she finds stuff). I have actually seen them in my yard and they try to defiantly stare me down when I order them off the property. There is no way I would let Puddin' out when those cretins are around. Her colouring blends into the shadows of the bushes and trees and these morons would think nothing of vaulting over the wall, landing right on her, and not telling me she had been injured.
Also, we had a robbery recently and the burglars gained entry to our property from one of the neighbours back gardens, so there is just no way Puddin' is going out there until she is big enough and smart enough to recognize danger as it comes over the garden wall! |
