I don't think you did anything wrong. The best thing to find a reputable breeder is through the breed's club of your area. Don't just do your search online. if they are not interested in telling you about their dogs, RUN.
but do expect to pay a higher amount when you buy from professional breeders (compared to buying from those backyard breeders). $1800 doesn't sound outrageous at all. you might want to ask more questions if the breeder sells a yorkie or a maltese for <$1000, such as maybe the puppies have no pedigree, the parents might be huge (not that i mean big babies are not cute). But the standard size for Yorkies is 4-7 lbs.
I'm not a breeder, but hope this helps. I researched for a long time before i got Bambi. A good breeder should be helpful and available to you 24/7 and would never snap at you. |
