Welcome to YT!! I refrigerate the unused canned food and it last me about 3 days. The food i use can be stored in the can with a lid as it doesn't have any of the metal exposed to the food. There is a white "lining" inside the can. I take out 5 little chunks in the morning and nuke it for about 10 seconds...that will take the chill off without cooking it. My girls prefer it warm or room temperature. They only get it room temp on the day it is opened...they get it nuked the rest of the time. If you are going to wave your baby's food, make sure you test it first so it isn't too hot. I figured out the timing my just sticking my finger in it to make sure it wasn't too hot. I also put a papertowel over it when it is warming up so it doesn't splatter if it happens to pop a little.
If your canned dog food doesn't have any lining inside and just has the aluminum, you should store it in another tupperware type container.
