  That was my thought too, so I stopped myself.  I never spank him, I was just in shock that he did that.  My husband lets him bite (mouth) him when they are playing so I made sure to tell him not to do that anymore so that he doesn't think its okay.  I'm assuming a puppy doesn't understand the difference between playing biting being okay and mean biting not being okay.
