I have had pocket for about a month, he is 4 months old. I leave him in a Ex-pen for about three to three and a half hours,with food and water and his toys until I get home for lunch and take him outside. He is very good and does not use the bathroom inside the Ex-pen. He is then left for about two and a half to three hours until I get home in the afternoon and he does fine. I give him a treat when I get home each time telling him he is a good boy. I am new to this also but I think the older he gets the longer he could hold it. The above suggestions sound like good one also. What ever works for you.
