O- blood can be given to anyone of all blood types and the only safe blood to give in emergencies when they don't have time to see what blood type a injured person is. But only O- type people can receive O- blood.
Many years ago I need a blood transfusion and the small town I lived in had no O- in stock I almost died. They had to rush it by ambulance from a town over an hour away. So I think it's so important for me with this special blood to help others knowing it can truely save lives. All blood donations are so important.
What a wonderful thing for you to think about doing, it makes you feel good after.
