Since dog foods are so complex, it could've been any ingredient in there causing a sensitivity. The only way to know is to do an elimination diet and then slowly add the ingredients that you think might be a problem back into the diet.
The NB Venison and duck might be worth a try but if that doesn't help, you could go to California Natural. Since most of it isn't grain free, I'm not sure how much good that will do.
Alternatively, you could get a recipe from a canine nutritionist specific for allergies and then add more ingredients to see what the food is that is bothering him.
