Metro is common with liver shunt patients but I haven't heard of given it after surgery. Maybe give it for a couple months and then decide?
Would a pill form be okay?
Entirelypets had 250 and 500 mg tabs for .12 and .19 each.
I don't have an answer on whether the shunt should fully close but I would think so.
He should be pretty much normal except for needing supplements, etc. unless he gets another shunt or unless he has MVD also.
I guess it's possible that the amount of closure could have to do with what method was used to close it.

Under the surgery section it says that a scintography could be performed 3-6 months post op to see if the shunt is close, so evidently they do close fully.
