i live in nyc and you should see the tiny ones i spot women toting around. i've seen 2 or 3 that look completely unhealthy and when asked these women have bragged about their dogs weighing 2-2.5 pounds full grown. the smallest ones i've seen look sick - their coats are so thin and their eyes look dull. i've honestly wondered if their owners are feeding them enough. i wanted a "larger" yorkie - around 6-7 pounds and Mojito has exceeded that weight but he just gets more handsome and lovable by the day.
and i have to agree with "teacups" being so 2003... it really is. i just hope that people who buy these tinies are able to properly care for their babies. |
I appreciate your honesty, but you are completely contradicting the point of this post. One lady said smaller was better - not the world! I have a beautiful 3lb baby girl who is in PERFECT health at over 9 months old. I have never had any major vet bills outside shots and spay. She has never been frail or not eaten, she eats all her food and plenty of treats and rawhides. I too agree, as stated in an earlier post, that size isn't a matter. I wanted a 5lb, and ended up w/ a 3?? But do I regret her, NO. Do I think she is soooo 2003??? NO - I love her because she is my baby girl. She is filled out, has a mini pot belly and a gorgeous face. I use to have a 12lb s**tzu, and she was just as beautiful - but is that so 2003??? I just think that was a really rude comment. You may not like people telling you your dog is too big, but I don't like people telling me my dog is too small. It is not her fault she is so tiny, she was the largest in the litter at the time I picked her (doubtfull the biggest now though!). No matter how much I feed her, she only adds an ounce or so to her frame. She is just a tiny girl, like there are tiny women. Sometimes I actually feel bad that she is so small, but I am just thankful she found me to look after her and spoil her so much. Tiny Yorkies need great Moms, and I think I do that for my Laila. She is my life and my love, my loyal dog and companion - even if she is SO 2003!
