My girls are both chipped - something I chose to do. Since they don't wear collar with tags because of the risk, this is the only way I have to identify them as mine (with definite proof) should they get out, lost or stolen.

I also have to trust that most people are honest and if they found an adorable, small, obviously well cared for dog, they would take it to a vet or shelter and see if there was a chip. If an honest, caring person did this, my baby would be returned to me immediately as all the necessary information is there. I have no control over wether someone else would do the right thing, but I can control if the tool is there should they decide to.
