Some people think we shouldn't give attention to certain things because our very act of attention reinforces what that person or institution is trying to accomplish. For example skin heads – some people think if the news talks about them too much, some people who are lost and lonely and looking for a crutch will join the organizations, giving them more power. On the other hand, if we talk about puppy mills, and inform people about kennel conditions, this does not give the millers more power, it actually helps people get involved and encourage the legislatures to pass more laws that will put puppy millers out of business. So it does work, and we have to be careful where we place our energies. I like to focus on raising kennel conditions rather then stopping commercial breeders.
