I know you're not a fan of puppy pads, but have you ever considered litter box training your puppy? There are dog litters that are larger than cat litter, made of recycled newspaper. Instead of getting confused because of just a little pad on the floor, the litter box offers a specific area for the potty. Silvia is litter box trained, but she will also use outside whenever we let her out. It's also nice to know that you can be gone longer than usual and not have to worry about accidents.
