General Crate Questions/Leaving home alone Hey all,
Recently purchased an adorable little yorkie boy. Still no name as of yet and its been 5 days hahaha! Anyways, back on topic. I'm trying to crate train the pup and he seems to be okay with his crate predominantly when he sleeps. i place him on my lap, pet him till he comes close to sleeping, then place him inside. Once I close the door to the crate, i just lie there for 2 min or so waiting till he lies down, and voila! He's out like a light.
In the long run, should I be continuing this technique or not? Can I keep his crate in my room where he can see me?
Also, when I leave the lil guy at home for a couple hours during the day, I place him at my front entrance of my house and put him in an open cage (roughly 3.5ftx2.5ft) with all his toys and beds etc. When I leave the little guy just doesnt stop barking, crying and he will not play with his toys, and I feel horrible. My front entrance is fairly large with doors which i can close to block off the rest of the house. Is it worth keeping him in the crate or just letting him wander around the entrance?
A little guidance would be appreciated,
