Oi.. The reason I took him to someone was to AVOID doing something like this myself!
This can be very painful. I think I would take him to the vet, they'll probably fix it for a nominal fee, it needs to be clipped or it could splinter too short. Joey's breeder said that one of the most important steps, if you clip the nails, is to make sure the clippers are extra sharp, and too many people don't throw them out and get a new clipper, and this causes splintering. I would guess the groomer needs new nail clippers.
