Maybe the acting didn't actually "suck" but the difference between what happens in the book and what happens on screen is so totally different that it makes the acting seem "lifeless". The book was so deep and emotional that it would take some much more experienced actors maybe to be able to carry that to the screen. I agree with the other poster that it was somewhat empty.
I enjoyed watching the movie mostly because of Bella. I've been told since the movie first came out at the theatre that the Bella character is my oldest daughter all over again. My daughter hasn't even read the books so she's not all into the Twilight thing so when kids at school started telling her that, she didn't know what they meant. She does look a lot like her but the mannerisms and everything are so dead on that it's a little weird watching it.
