Hang in there.
I believe anyone with a bigger yorkie (mine are 13 and 15 lbs) gets to hear these comments a lot. It used to offend me, now I just say "they are yorkies, and I know that they are big." Usually that stops the comments. Although, I've been told I don't know what I'm talking about they must be silkies, that I abuse them by cutting their hair, that they should have longer legs, stand up ears....I'm always amazed anyone thinks it's any of their business. One of my babies is a rescue. So, actually he could have something else mixed in (how would I know), but please, don't let him hear you say he's not a yorkie
