I have only the one Yorkie so my experience is limited. I have a female that will be 7 months tomorrow. She has been harder to housebreak than other bigger dogs I have had but then I heard that was a Yorkie/toy breed issue anyway. She hardly ever pees in the house now and never poops . Every other thing I have tried to teach her she learns in about 10 minutes. (She has learned to beg particularly well I am noticing right now as she is intently watching my husband eat some chocolate -- don't worry he won't give her any). She even goes where I point without my saying anything already and I didn't try to teach her that.

I guess my point is that I believe terriers in general are willful. Some might be down right stubborn especially if it works for them. See my dog that begs for example . Some are smart and some not so much, and I don't think sex has much to do with it.
