Pogo in Oil Hi all, I'm Jerry, and I've been a member here for a while, doing a lot of reading and viewing pictures. I seem to be one of the few, if any, yorkie dads here.
I'm disabled and have lost my two yorkie brothers over the past 4 years. Gizmo died in 2005 at just 5 years old. His brother, BoBo, died just two weeks before this past Christmas at 8 years old. They had been my companions and comfort for the past 8 years as my wife works 2nd shift and I'm here alone from 2 in the afternoon till 11 at night.
My grown twins, son and daughter, knew how I suffered after the loss of Gizmo and didn't want to see me left with no little buddy at all. I truly didn't know what I was going to do after losing little BoBo just before Christmas. We had a gift wrapped for him. Sorry, I'm rambling now. I get that way over these loving little guys.
Anyway, on The Saturday following BoBo's passing on the 10th of December, my daughter brought the grandkids over for a visit to comfort grandpa. As she approached me for a hug, she unzipped her coat ( it was cold that day ) and out crawled the little 1lb.- 3 oz. guy you see in my avitar. I couldn't believe that she and her brother had gotten together, found a good breeder, driven a total of about 120 miles with my son picking the puppy up, meeting half way, and transferring him to my daughter, (because she lives closer to me) and finally bringing him to me, saying "Happy birthday dad."
I have never been more surprised, or prouder of my two kids for what they did for me. I have a loving companion again, and I named him Pogo because he bounces around like a pogo stick.
Now, here is an oil style print I did of him at almost 5 months old.
Thanks to all for letting me ramble on with such a long introduction.
Best Wishes,
Jerry |
