It seems like you have to either kill someone, embezzle money, commit a "hate crime", or commit fraud to get any real jailtime here. My husbands ex step dad molested my husbands little sister and got a 30 day sentence, served weekends only, and bargained to not be listed as a sex offender.
I bet if he would have called her a racial slur or commented on her sexuality that would have gotten him hard time though
Most definitely the judicial system is in need of an overhaul. I would not like to see that done under the current administration though.
