Thanks for the suggestion - I think we may blockade him in the kitchen. We only allow him access in and out of the doggy door when we aren't home because we have a *very* secure 7 foot privacy fence and a security system. But with the weather changing soon, we will have to think of something else.
And to answer a previous poster: Last winter we were in a condo, and we had completely different schedules, so one of us was always home with Rex. We moved into our new house in early spring this year.
