I can't say that for many of the other dogs there. The kill rate is extremely high at this shelter. Each year, the shelter impounds more than 34,000 pets. December of 2008 was a record breaking month for adoptions which totaled 700 pets. Now you do the math on that one. Anywhere from 100 to 150 pets are euthanized DAILY. |
Well, I pray the yorkies are saved - but those numbers are staggering. I live in a city where there is only one place that might euthanize - and I have been told it is so incredibly rare. Matter of fact they recently opened a larger facility. I know the big dogs have the hardest time. And this organization has also been promoting how hard it is for dogs who are mostly black to get adopted - so they are inviting people to join the Black Dog Club - I might join, because Roxy is mostly black & the fee to join will help the rescue.
Those numbers make me sick. It is so hard to understand why this society has allowed dog breeding at puppy mills to get so out of control
