I had the same thing going on here, but here is what has helped...routine routine routine. I think Yorkies are like kids, they need structure and a schedule. So now the girls know it's out to potty, Maya has breakfast, not Mika. WHile Maya has breakfast Mika gets to run the house beyond the kitchen gate by herself as a reward. Then it is Mom's computer time, and their play time. Then when Mommies coffee runs out it is the GROOMING TIME.
I use Ice on Ice detangler, I start the bristle brush which is like the one you brush your hair with, then I use a wide tooth comb which does not hurt as much, and I spray and go a section of hair at a time until I have most of the tangles out. The one they hate is the slicker brush, but it is last, and now that I have learned to get the tangles out first, and talk soothingly to them while I am doing the slicker, and now that it mostly glides through, it is no longer their enemy. Then Mika gets to go outside and romp whiile Maya gets groomed. Now when I am doing Mika, Maya is on the floor whinning for her turn....grooming time has turned around here. Oh and grooming time is always followed by a good treat for being good, and lots of praise about how pretty they look.
