I cannot stress enough how important pre op bloodwork is! The blood work lets the veterinarian know if your dog's organs can process the anesthesia appropriately. Anesthesia is processed through the liver and, since Yorkies are 36 times more likely to have a liver shunt than all other breeds combined, it is even more important that they have pre op bloodwork.
