Turns out I did get the $300 last summer - my tax gal thought they were giving me the other $300 because of dd now, but the IRS woman didn't think that's why it was changed -- really no one gave me a clear answer why it was automatically generated by the IRS that I would get the money or why it was decided I wouldn't.

I'm mad & frustrated at myself for spending money before it was in my acct. Big lesson learned!
I thought that children over 17 didn't qualify for a stimulus check? I could be wrong but that could be your issue. If it is, your tax preparer should have known that. She probably marked her an an eligible dependent when she was not and the IRS checked her birthday and found her ineligible.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Did you go to an actual accountant or to one of those tax prep places? I hear too many bad stories about those places. My accountant is expensive but at least I know it's done right. We used Turbotax for years before we had an accountant and it was great until it got to complicated for us to do that way. Taxes should not be this complicated!
