An update on Tim - the area all around his butt is no longer red and puffy. He still does not like it when I try to lift his tail to check on that sore raw spot, so I can't see how that is doing. I'm not sure if that's abnormal since I've never tried to lift his little tail. So far, it seems that it has gotten better, but the sensitive skin around the anus, and the sore itself is hidden under that tiny little stump tail.
I'm not really sure if it's an glad issue, so far, the swelling is gone, and the redness on the areas I can see is gone. Does anyone have any advice on how to get a dog to let you lift his tail?
