I learned with our miniature poodle that it doesn't hurt them ,and he would get nasty ear infections if it wasn't pulled regularly. My groomer did it every 8 weeks ,but he needed it done more often. When we got our yorkie I just started doing his every week along with the poodles. A little R-7 and fingers are all you need. All dogs vary and may not need done once a week, but I do it on bath days and it works out well.
