if you are in an area where lyme disesase is not common, i would not get this done. the one hospital i worked in, we were in a very ideal place for mosquitos, and lymes disease was common in dogs and humans, so people would get this vaccine. it is pricey and they need to get a total of 2 shots initally. I have not had any of my dogs on it, since we arent in an area for it. this vaccine is very controversal. I cannot remember how old they need to be, but they get the one vaccine, and then 2-4 weeks later get the 2nd one, and then its a yearly vaccine. Lymes is the most common vaccine that has side effects as well. so i would really talk to your vet about it more. hope this helps.....
