Any dog we ever had, my mother taught me never to hand feed the dog from the table. This turns your dog into a begger that sits there anticipating something every time people are eating. It might be cute to the family, or garner "love" (temporary) for the giver of food, but to me it takes a beautiful animal and turns them in to a BEGGER, and troublesome house guest.
If you have company, it's not cute, if you take them elsewhere for a weekend, it's not cute.
ALSO when I got my very first yorkie, the breeder told me that if I would keep her on the DRY food she was raised on and NOT feed her "people" food, she would have less health problems and live longer, and that is EXACTLY what happened. She also never had worms and never took all this fancy expensive mess every month.
I just don't advocate it, and I don't blame you for being upset with hubby.
