I had met a couple at Buddy's obedience class who had bought their Yorkie at a Petland store. The dog was 9 months old....happy and healthy. I had to go check out the place to see how these dogs were being kept and to meet the people that work at this store. Everyone there was very knowledgeable about all the dogs they had there, and all the puppies had another puppy with them...they were all playing or sleeping together. I asked to see one of the dogs...they took me over to a socailization area, made me wash my hands, and offered to watch Buddy outside of the area while I saw the dog. She was completely comforatble being handled...and was wanting to play with Buddy when she saw him. Even though what I saw was nothing like the horror stories that we all hear about petstores, I still would not recommend buying from them to be on the safe side, but not all pet stores are the same. I guess it's a matter of opinion, and how these places are run. Sometimes you may come across a store like I did, where they actually do care about the animals and making sure that the dogs go to good homes. |
