Have you checked his paw pads for injury?
When you palpate his leg, IS there an actual spot that is tender/hurt? Did they xray?

It could be a muscle strain - when this has happened w/ my dogs, they only limp for a day or two. How long has it been?

Otherwise, leg pain could be "referred pain" from the abdomen. Is his digestion and stools okay?
