I would be concerned that this indicates that he believes he is the boss. In that case he would bark at you guys to tell you to sit down. Does he have any other dominant behaviors?
Or maybe he's just barky. I tried pennies in a can with Thor, and he stopped barking at the neighbors almost immediately. I wasn't even that good with the timing, and it didn't seem to scare him either.
