I agree with the other poster who suggested a baby gate. Give her a little bit of a view.
I'm sure you'll get lots of advice on all your questions, but about the training: I've read it takes the average dog two dozen repititions to understand a simple command. I think two commands is just fine. If she seems to be having a lot of trouble with a certain command, try another approach, or work on another command for a while. Shake Hands is super-cute. I recommend you do that one next.
