That's a good point, and I do have a nice size wire crate also. However I think I still want the gates for the time I am here, but can't keep a close eye on her. I have a brand new house with lots of brand new carpet. I know to expect accidents, and I got the "standard" carpet because I'm sure I'll be replacing it down the line. I will bring her on the carpet when I'm with her and have a pad nearby, but don't want her confined to a small crate too much.
