I have never had a baby or puppy before, so I am clueless! I will have 5 weeks off work after bringing my puppy home to get her settled in. After that I will be gone about 7-8 hours Monday-Friday for work. I don't want to keep her crated or in a small bathroom/laundry room for all that time. So until she's fully trained I figured I will keep her in the large kitchen/nook area with vinyl flooring. It's also the most convenient because I will be training her to go to the back door when she needs to go out, and it is in that area.
To keep her in that area I will need 2 gates. My doorways are just about 42", and a lot of the gates I've seen go UP TO 42". Will they fit or would they be easily pushed down? I was looking at another that goes to 50" wide, and that might be nice because I could use it for a different part of the kitchen to keep her away if I'm cooking. Also, I know yorkies can jump quite a bit. How high should it be so she can't jump over it? Now she's just a puppy, but I'd rather get a gate that'll work when she's grown too. Is wood or plastic better?
Here are a couple of the lower cost ones I found online. If anyone has used them or has input please share! Or if you know where I can get a better one!
