I think what's most confusing is that when you register a litter of puppies, the AKC asks what color they are. When Yorkies are born (or at least all of the pups I've ever had), they are black and tan. (I've had people say "Oh look....little baby Rotweilers!!"

) Then, by the time they're old enough to sell, they've changed colors. My male is blue and gold, my females are both black and tan by registration standards. Most of the puppies remain black/tan, but some of them are silver/tan, or grey (?) and tan. Just about everyone on here says their Yorkies change colors by the time they're a year old. So.....why does the AKC make you register them by a certain color, when chances are that they will change??
