I too would buy more based on the dog's personality than generalizations about its sex.

One point that's not often brought up about male vs. female: it's much easier to clothe a female. Our boy Buster has to wear undersized sweaters to keep warm or else he'll pee on them; a female's anatomy avoids this problem.
