Well, I have never heard that. I would not think it would be a problem as long as the dog is getting regular bathes. Where I have the problem with long hair on the sheath is when it comes to breeding. The hair get caught inside the sheath, folding the sheath inside and preventing the penis to retract properly. If I am using a male for breeding I usually cut the hair on the sheath. I don't know how other breeders deal with that problem.
