How old is your male and has he ever been used for breeding before? It can be a problems if you have a shy inexperienced male. It is best if you can sit on the floor with the female and be patient. If he is interested enough he will eventually come around and start trying. I always just hold the female by her front shoulder with her rear facing away. You can have a folded towel or blanket behind her. The other suggestion would be to put a comforter in an ex-pen and just sit back and watch. Sometimes they can get more foot leverage that way. A experienced female will learn to squat down some so the male can reach. You just have to be sure to be right there if he does tie her. If all else fails then you have to AI.
