I'm not saying the $500 price isn't fair. But wanted you to know most rescues do get a greatly reduced rate from vets for work done. So, it's not likely it cost this rescue anywhere near $500 for a simple neuter and vet check. The vet I've worked with often does things free of charge for rescues.
