I am one of those who've had no problem answering the questions out $$.

However, after a while, I started having problems answering queries on her name. LOL. I think it's pointless for them to know the name, and generally, the ones who got her name out of us (all until a few months ago when we became more selective in who we give her real name to) don't even call out to her during the brief encounter. Those who walk by and don't ask, I've heard comment on how expensive these guys are and one who even said "that one must have been $2000."
I know I've been curious in the past when I knew I wanted a yorkie one day. I wanted to know the actual market range I should be looking at. I've seen anywhere from the hundreds to the $3000's listed in local ads, etc., so I'd like to see what certain price points get me. Just recently, I came upon a woman with her really tiny little girl. She told me her pup was 6 months young and, though I didn't inquire about the price, she had let me know she paid $2800 for her "teddy" faced yorkie, and she had wondered what type mine was. Of course, I explained to her that it's just a word used for describing their features but not so much a "type". Her $2800 pretty little girl looked perfect and was not a yapper, however, she came with kennel cough and imported from Brazil. I had experienced a moment of shock and tried not to freak out hearing that she's currently being treated for the cough.

Anyway, that's another matter.
I have been asked by those who were genuinely interested in buying a yorkie for themselves or who already owns one, and I really don't mind giving them any information they want about my girl. Price, breeder, health, weight, and even her name! For those who seem to ask just for the sake of asking, I answer half of the questions and in less detail.
Before I got my girl, I had really been interested in the overall health of the adult yorkies we run into and if healthy, like gathering information for a survey, I went on to ask where they had purchased their pup from. Quite a few were from "oopsies", friends and local ads. I guess the ones who purchased from "reputable" breeders didn't look as "approachable" to me or must have been those who felt less comfortable in answering any of these questions coming from a complete stranger (who did not even reach out to touch their pet but admired their beauty and temperament from a distance). I have gotten answers like, "I don't remember", and that they had "cost A LOT" and so forth. Oh, one who did buy from a registered Canadian Kennel Club breeder who lived/lives down the street from my parent's, they called him "Tiny" and well, we got the business card of her breeder from her. Never inquired about the price since we had a kennel name to go by.

That was about 5 years before we were ready for a puppy. I had saved and treasured the card. 5 years later, the hubby made the call, he said he left a message, but never heard from the woman.

So I'm not sure if she's still breeding or if the hubby sounded rude and suspicious on the voice mail.
I guess I'm just one of those who won't just jump into something without having any real idea of what to expect. My pockets aren't bottomless and even for, say, a $20 movie, I would not pay $40 for if I know I can pay $20 or less for the same thing. It's harder to say what is the "same" with a living creature as opposed to material objects, but there must be a number to work with. I mean, I'm one who doesn't pay full price to go watch the movies first run! Instead of paying out $12-13.50 like a lot of people do, I used to get in with free passes, and now, I pay $6.60 corporate rate. This is just how I am and I can't say as that's how I've been raised since my parents just throw money away buying at full retail without price comparison shopping for ANYTHING, but again, they're not dealing with living things.
