Since your enjoying this (and so am I cause I can relate), I'll tell you Sophie experience with the bell.
We too are having/had problems potty training Sophie. The bells were recommended but we have 3 cats and to hang bells from a door handle? Need I say anymore. We opted for a "counter" style bell, I think the same as Noelle's mommy and set it on the floor right by the door. Sophie was scared to DEATH of the thing. Everytime we'd ring it, she'd cringe and run away. We eventually got her to at least tolerate it. We'd take her paw and ring the bell and say "potty". And she wimper, but she put up with it. Well, one particular day we came back inside after going potty and we were happy and jumping and clapping and doing the "good girl" dance and she accidentally sat on the bell and it rang. She darn near jumped right out of her skin! I laughed so hard and she ran off into the house. That was the end of the bell. It stayed there for another month. But I think just yesterday my husband decided she was not going to do the "bell potty" and has put it away. I'm sure somewhere, Sophie has let out a soft sigh.....
