I trust my vet completely but I want to be there and if I couldn't
I would find a new vet. It's just how I feel. If something did happen
I would always wonder if they did something to make him react,
being there myself I feel I am protecting both of us.
Like I said I would never allow one of my small children to be in
a room with their doctor without my presence and I feel the same
way about my dog.
It's just my feelings.
That's great that your vet doesn't mind doing everything in the room. We all have our preferences I guess. I just don't see how letting them go back for 5 minutes is different than leaving them all day for a surgery... I know with blood draws, more than one tech can get around Ellie if she is in the back, everything they need is back there and at Ellie's old vet office, there are windows so you could watch if you wanted. So if the vet feels like doing it in the back, fine, and if she does things in front of me, fine too. Ellie did scream from the back before when a tech took out her spay staples though. That I did not like but it would'vve been the same whether I was there or not.
