I've never heard of a dog coughing from teething, but then again I am also not a vet. If you're really worried, you can always go to another vet for a second opinion. I had one vet tell me my Lilli had a collapsing trachae when she was a baby and had been coughing for months after nothing for kennel cough working. Let's just say I went to THREE vets before we figured out that it was in fact kennel cough and she just needed a more aggressive steroid to clear it up. She's been fine for 2 years now. My suggestion would be to get another opinion. The peace of mind is well worth it.
