Indiana is trying to pass a new law regarding puppies and breeders, and one of the stipulations would be that a vet
may turn a breeder in to authorities, without the fear of civil lawsuits. It doesn't even require the vet to do it, which in a way, I think would be better; it just says that a vet may turn a breeder in. I think this is a good law, and probably most of our states don't have it yet, but this is probably why most vets don't do anything about bad breeders. They could risk losing their practices, though a civil lawsuit bought on by greeder just because they had reported him. Often times the penalties for abuse are so low, a $25.00 fine for example, that it hardly seems worth the trouble.
